Post Malone has (apparently) chosen a side in Utah’s college football rivalry.

Malone — whose real name is Austin Post — appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast Wednesday, sporting a University of Utah hat. During the broadcast, Malone talked about his decision to move to Utah. The podcast contains mature language.

Malone said he loves living in Utah because of the mountain ranges, the landscape and the escape from the city life. He said he enjoys seeing the giant mountains and feeling small at the same time.

“It’s incredible,” Malone said. “And it’s free.”

Malone said Utah is great for making music because “you feel like you’re a part of something bigger but you’re so insignificant. You can just say, I accept everything around me and I’m relaxed and I’m at peace, knowing that ... the world’s spinning around you and everything happens for a reason.”

Utah leaves him “at peace” and “at ease” he said. “I don’t have to worry.”

“Los Angeles always had something going on,” he said. “I couldn’t do it,” he said, and it impacted his creative process.

Back in September, Post Malone said on his album “Hollywood’s Bleeding” that Utah became an “oasis” for him, as I wrote about for Deseret.com.

“I finally made the move out of LA and I moved to Utah. I feel like in LA and Hollywood there’s such a strange vibe to where there’s a lot of vampires,” he said.

He told Variety that Utah helps him relax from his anxiety, too.

“I’d say since the beginning of middle school, I always felt like I was always anxious and kind of sad all the time, but I kind of came out of it,” he told Variety. “Being in Utah and being away from the grind and from everybody else and it’s just me with my video games and cold one, that feels good to me.”
